Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Geophysics
The Alamein New City is one of the recently established cities and the study of the offshore area is important to define the morphosedimentary seafloor features and evaluate their geomorphology structure. The integration of the marine geophysical data that obtained from the bathymetric and shallow seismic surveys, was validated and confirmed by SSS backscatter data and ROV images. These results divided the study area into three main zones. The gentle sloping of the seafloor with the existence of the mounds and the submerged ridge provides natural protection for beaches of Alamein New City. Also, the shallow seismic and marine magnetometer data confirm the absence of any faults or fractures in the seafloor of the study area
