Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Civil Engineering Summary: Volatile price of the projects items throughout the implementation phase is considered a major problem facing construction projects all over the world. Such problem arises so often and leads in most cases to arising claims. Prices variation can arise due to various economic, political and natural reasons. Inflation is considered the most obvious phenomena in the case of price variation; therefore, the biggest problem is the volatility of prices throughout the work course whose impact is required to be avoided during the implementation phase. The research also addresses the means of dealing with the price variation according to the different types of general terms and conditions of the international contracts. The research presents the definition of computer models and its various applications in construction. The research introduces a computer-based model titled as CP_PAS designed specially to adjust the price of contract. The introduced system is general and can be used by all parties of projects to estimate the adjustment of prices, as it is considered an instrument to provide the contract with flexibility to adapt the market price changes and upon agreement between parties as per the pre-determined terms and conditions
