The main aim of the present study is to develop first year secondary school students' reading comprehension using a suggested strategy in terms of inquiry - based learning tasks and self - assessment . Subjects of the study were 106 ( 53 boys, 53 girls ) first year secondary school students enrolled in three classrooms at three different schools
