Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Biochemistry Summary: Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in Kuwait. There is in the blood of many enzymes in the body, including the enzyme YKL-40 and also called glycoprotein-39 there are many hormones, including prolactin. So the goal of the research is to measure the concentration and the level of prolactin in the blood, concentration level of enzyme YKL-40 in the blood of women with breast cancer and situations as well as their concentration in the blood of women do not suffer from oncological diseases as the control group. The concentration was measured every level of prolactin and YKL-40 enzyme in the blood using a technique-Elisa (ELISA). Study groups consisted of the first group (G.1), which includes cases of adult healthy women who do not suffer from the disease, called the control group and group two (G.2) which included newly diagnosed cases of breast cancer and had not received the treatment of breast cancer and a third group (G.3) which includes cases of women suffering from (metastatic) breast cancer spread and had not received any treatment, and the fourth group (G.4) contains treated of women suffering from metastatic breast cancer (treatment in the Kuwait cancer control center (KCCC)), state of Kuwait. This study has shown that there are significant differences between the control group and sick groups where he found that the average concentration of prolactin hormone and enzyme YKL- 40 in the blood significantly high compared with average concentrations in the control group
