Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Civil Engineering Summary: This study proposed a diagnostic performance assessment program for assessing the performance of irrigation water management in the Nile Delta of Egypt . The assessment of the three branch canals showed inequity of water distribution and mismatch between demand and supply . At the on - farm level the values of on - farm application efficincies varied from 0.46 to 0.85 for rice field and from 0.54 to 0.94 for wheat fields which indicated a potential for improving this indicator to achieve real saving of water
