Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery Summary: Both groups underwent preoperative and postoperative clinical, laboratory, electrocardiographic and echocardiographic evaluation. echocardiographic evaluation were repeated after 1 year after patients were discharged from hospital. Tricuspid valve competence was restored in nearly all cases with only mild residual tricuspid insufficiency in 30.3% of patients in both groups in the immediate postoperative period. Follow up 1 year revealed recurrent and progressive tricuspid insufficiency in 4 patients in DeVega annuloplasty group. This recurrence and progression were not observed in bands annuloplasty group. The simplicity of these techniques, their efficacy and relative durability results justify their use in repair of functional tricuspid insufficiency at time of correction of left sided valvular lesions. However, Bands annuloplasty provide better durability
