Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics Summary: The current study is designed to assess the relation between the duration of fetal extraction during cesarean section and the incidence of occurrence of transient tachypnea of the newborn. One Hundred (100) pregnant women were included in the study fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Time from initiation of anesthesia till clamping of the cord and time from incision of the uterus till clamping of the cord were recorded. Apgar score at 5 minutes, respiratory rate and weight of neonate were reported by the pediatrician, and then occurrence of Transient Tachypnea of Newborn (TTN) among the studied neonates was observed. No correlation between the duration of fetal extraction, either I-C interval up to 999 second or U-C interval up to 66 seconds, and development of TTN. No correlation between the duration of fetal extraction, either I-C interval up to 999 second or U - C interval up to 66 seconds, and apgar score, recorded at 5 minutes
