Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Civil Engineering Summary: This research is conducted to determine the reliability of one bay flat slab that is supported on four corner columns. The yield line method is introduced by means of virtual work method to carry out the analysis. Also, a numerical approach is used to utilize this procedure.Thus, FORTRAN program is used to calculate the probability of failure of different slabs has rectangular dimensions. Three different modes of failure are investigated with through, and by using an appropriate correlation coefficient between the failure modes, the reliability of the slab system is obtained. Some parameters that reflect the sensitivity of results are also studied such as slab divisions, and correlation coefficient selection process
