Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of General Surgery
Background: Hepato-Biliary and Pancreatic (HBP) surgery became a worldwide strategy for management of different diseases related to liver, biliary system and pancreas. However, there is poor documentation for surgical experiences in a data base that provides a reference for surgeons and provides follow up documents for progress in different techniques for international dissemination. Methods: A combined retrospective and prospective study for management of hepato biliary and pancreatic surgical cases from August 2016 till January 2018 including their preoperative preparation, operative intervention, postoperative management and follow up. Results: 301 patients were included in the study, 296 patients were encountered with almost full data and 5 missing cases. Forty patients out of the 296 patients were managed conservatively and 256 were managed surgically. One hundred and seventy patients did cholecystectomy and 86 did other hepato-biliary and pancreas surgeries. Thirty two patients did whipple{u2019}s procedure, while 28 patients did hepatectomies and 9 patients did hepaticojejunostomies for bile duct injuries
