Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Anatomy
The knowledge of the anatomical variants of the internal iliac artery is fundamental for many surgical and radiological procedures. The present study evaluatedthe incidence of different anatomical variationsin the branching pattern ofinternal iliac arteryin egyptians using both cadaveric specimens as well as radiological angiographs. It was found that there were obvious variations in all of the branches of internal iliac artery. The obturator artery was the most variable branch while the superior gluteal artery was the most fixed. Significant gender variations were observed in the middle rectal artery, obturator artery and {u200E}the length of internal iliac artery
