Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Helwan - Department of Guidance
The subject of the thesis is related to human modern thought . The study of the Egyptian feminist movement is actually a study of history : mainly of what is called the Egyptain renaissance `nahdah` which began with the accession of `khedive Ismail` in 1863 ; the efforts to revive Islam from the condition of `ignorance and helplessness` into which it had lapsed and which had resulted in Islamic lands becoming prey to Western aggression; the agrument for reforms in the intellectual and social fields, and for the elevation of women`s status; the collapse of A/Harmalak, or Al Hareem [the place whose innovators had considered suitable to isolate women in a protective seclusion forbidden to other men], and Egypt`s contemporary history which had started by the 1919 Revolution
