Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Biochemistry Summary: Propolis used in this study (Qalubia& Giza) extracted by ethanol 80% to get EEP. Physical properties of EEP & Chemical properties (The mean resin, solid insoluble matter and volatile substances percentage) were studied. UV-VIS spectra in region 200 - 900 nm for Qalubia and Giza propolis & Total phenolic compounds, total Flavonones and di hydroxy flavonal content, total flavones and flavonals and total flavonoid percentage of Qalubia and Giza EEP were studied. Biological effect of EEP: Antibacterial (Bacillus cereus, staphylococcus aureus, E. coli and Salmonella typhi) & Anticancer (Hela cancer cell & Hep-G2 cancer cell) have been studied
