Thesis (M.A.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Arts - Department of English
The aim of this study is to pressent the two experience of oppression and resistance in addition to tracing the development of political consciousness in selected noveis by Ghassan Kanafani and Alex La Guma that reflect the national struggle of the indigenous people in palestine and former apartheid south Africa. The thesis compares Men in the Sun (1963) by Kanafani with a walk in the night (1967) by La Guma to show the first phase of lack political consciousness among the indigenous people of the two countries as represented in the two novels. The thesis then compares Kanafani's Umm sood (1969) with La Guma's in the Fog of the season's End (1974) to show the final phase of full political consciousness that has been acquired by the oppressed
