The different phytoconstituents reported in certain mentha longifolia species, as well as the reported biological activities and taxonomical features of the genus and the family "Lamiaceae" have been reviewed. A botanical study was done including micro- and macro-morphological study. Preliminary phytochemical screening was carried out which indicate the presence of carbohydrates and/or glycosides, free and combined flavonoids, tannins, sterols and/or triterpenes, as well as traces of saponin was present only in the roots, and presence of volatile constituents in the aerial parts
