A major objective of keratoplasty is to remove corneal opacities from the visual axis . Other objectives include correction of abnormal contour or corneal thinning relief of corneal pain and removal of infections foci . A major complication of penetrating keratoplasty is graft rejection which is climinated as a complication of DALK as the donor graft is transplanted devoid of its main antigenic load the corneal endothelium
