Aim:the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of solvents on the micro-shear bond strength of self-etch adhesives to dentin, furthermore, the effect of different storage periods on the bond strength of these adhesives. Materials and Methods: A total of 45 freshly extracted human molars were used. They were divided into three groups (15 teeth each) according to the type of bonding system used, either acetone-based, ethanol-based or solvent-free self-etch adhesives. Moreover, each group was subdivided into three sub-groups (5 teeth each) according to the period of storage of the specimens after bonding. Composite resin micro cylinders were obtained by condensing the resin composite into polyethylene tubes. Two resin composite cylinders were bonded on each buccal dentin surface such that we have a total of 90 specimens. All specimens were stored in artificial saliva till testing procedures. The prepared specimens were conducted for micro-shear bond strength test after 24 hours for the first subgroup, after three and six months for the second and third subgroups. Results: Acetone-based self-etch adhesive showed the highest bond strength values at 24 hours testing followed by ethanol-based adhesive, while solvent-free self-etch adhesive showed the least micro-shear bond strength values. All groups showed deterioration in their bond strength after storage time except ethanol-based adhesive, showed a decrease in its bond strength values at 3 months storage followed by an increase in bond strength after 6 months
