Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Pharmacognosy Summary: The radioprotective effect of 70% ethanol extract of 11 different edible and medicinal plants belonging to 6 families were studied to evaluate lipid peroxidation that might be induced as a result of exposure to ionizing radiation malondialdehde (MDA ) content in plasma and liver tissues was estimated . In addition the level of reduced glutathione (GSH ) and superoxide dismutase (SOD ) was determined in whole blood and liver tissues of irradiated animals
