Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Geology
The present work deals with the Albian-Cenomanian sequence of Western Desert stratigraphic units, as one of the main hydrocarbon siliciclastic reservoirs in the Northern Western Desert of Egypt. They are represented in AR/G Member, Bahariya Formation and Kharita Formation. The main structural features of the East Bahariya study area presented through 20 seismic lines interpretation, where, horizons and faults picking steps are all done. The identified markers show that study wells are penetrated the crest of a simple normal fault bounded horst block within the Upper Cretaceous. The objective of this work is to provide a detailed integrated facies analyses within a stratigraphic framework and to deduce the depositional processes of the Albian-Cenomanian sequences as one of the main hydrocarbon siliciclastic reservoirs in the Northern Western Desert of Egypt. Thus, a coherent conceptual depositional facies model can be constructed, and rock typing and flow units can be delineated, and reservoir quality can be classified
