Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Mechanical Power Engineering Summary: Agrophotovoltaic (APV) concept is an innovative photovoltaic (PV)- system - technology aims to enhance the productivity of the same land area between agriculture and energy sector by optimizing photovoltaic and photosynthesis yields. To emphasize that APV integrated technology is feasible, an optimized simulation program monitors an adequate extent of light intensity intercepted by the Photovoltaic panels and sufficient light requirements for cultivated crops. The study tackles economic and technical feasibility of APV in arid climate zones, more specific in SEKEM farm in Minya, Egypt. It is highly expected that APV benefits are various because of water saving in pumping and irrigation, increasing the land equivalent ratio which is meant by increasing the food and energy productivity per unit area, improve soil and crops growth quality and prevent them from unwanted extra radiation. Moreover, it has a double edged benefit of reclaiming the deserted areas and producing electricity
