The study investigates the problems and difficulties of English pronunciation skills and proposes a design based on error analysis approach to develop English pronunciation skills. The participants of the study were a group of eighty students of first- year, Faculty of Nursing, Sohag University. A pronunciation skills checklist, a pronunciation skills rubric, and a discrimination-production pronunciation skills test were used to collect the data that were analyzed statistically and descriptively. The findings of the study revealed that first- year students, Faculty of Nursing, Sohag University, face problems and difficulties with the discrimination and the production of English pronunciation skills. Based on the findings, the study concluded that the source of students' errors could be attributed to many factors such as interference, faulty teaching techniques or materials, the differences in the sound system between Arabic and English, language anxiety, and lack of motivation among the learners towards learning English pronunciation. Based on the results of the error analysis of students' errors, the study proposed a design to develop English pronunciation skills among first- year students, Faculty of Nursing, Sohag University
