Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Nursing - Department of Nursing Services Administration Summary: Patient safety is the extent to which the probability of preventable, unintentional injury or complication that may result in disability, death or prolongation of hospital stay, caused by health care management rather than by the patient{u2019}s disease. ISO certification is identified as an important factor in implementing continuous quality improvement and total quality management and in promoting integration in health care systems. Aim: The current study aimed to; assess Emergency Operation Theatres' nursing Staff Compliance with Quality Management System (ISOO 9001:2008) As Regard Patient Safety At New Kaser El Ainy Teaching Hospital. Subject and Methods: A descriptive design was utilized in the current study. A sample of convenience of 17 operating room nurses (scrub & circulating) and anesthesia nurses working at Emergency O.R. The study was conducted at all emergency operating rooms at New Kaser El Ainy Teaching Hospital. Tools: consists of two parts, demographic and related work data, and observational checklist to measure operation theatres' nursing staff compliance to quality management system as regard patient safety. Results: There were statistical significant difference between age, qualification, shift work, patient safety training program, years of experience of the studied sample and their compliance to patient safety in operating theater. Conclusion: the study concluded that the majority of the studied sample was compliance to patient safety Inoperating Theater; while the minority of them was not compliance to patient safety in operating theater. Recommendations: The study recommended offering educational programs and upgrading courses armed with evidence based guidelines based on nurses' needs to improve their knowledge and practice related to patient safety in operating theater. Moreover, Follow up of nurses{u2019} compliance in relation to patient safety in operating theater is recommended
