Quantitative estimation of silymarin in different maturity stages of the fruits of Silybum marianum ( L. ) was carried out and showed that fully ripe fruits (dark brown) contain the higher percentage of silymarin. callus. Cell suspension and root cultures of Silybum marianum ( L. ) gaernt (wildly grown in Beni- Suef) were established from in vitro germinated sterile plantlets
