Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of In Organic Chemistry Summary: The thesis involves the synthesis and characterization of [Pd(MME)Cl₂] complex, where MME is methinione methyl ester. The structure of the complex has been characterized. Stoichiometry and stability constants of the complexes formed between various biologically relevant ligands (amino acids, peptides, DNA constituents and dicarboxylic acids) & [Pd(MME)(H2O)₂]²⁺ are investigated at 25{u00BA}C and at constant 0.1 M ionic strength. The effect of solvent (dioxane) on the stability constant of Pd(MME)-CBDCA is also reported. Complex formation equilibria of binuclear Pd(}}) complexes involving 4,4-bipiperidine and some selected DNA constituents are investigated The interaction of methinione methyl ester with dimethyltin(IV) (DMT), dibutyltin(IV) (DBT) and diphenyltin(IV) (DPT) was investigated at 25oC and 0.1M ionic strength in water for dimethyltin(IV) and in 50% dioxane {u2013} water mixture for dibutyltin(IV) and diphenyltin(IV). The stepwise formation constants of the 1:1 and 1:2 complexes formed in solution were calculated using the non-linear least-square program MINIQUAD-75. The concentration distribution of the various complex species was evaluated as a function of pH
