Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Physical Therapy - Department of Basic Science Summary: Isokinetic dynamometry has been established as the preferred technique for the quantification of muscle strength. It allows assessment of joint moments in both static and dynamic conditions before and after specific exercise interventions or rehabilitation from sports injuries. To investigate the difference between different body positions on peak torque of shoulder rotators in scapular plane and to determine the most efficient position used for strength training and rehabilitation of shoulder rotators. Single group repeated measurement design was used. Thirty healthy male of employees of Faculty of Physical Therapy participated in the study, their age ranged between 36-50 years. Each subject performed 15 trials of concentric isokinetic shoulder internal and external rotation in the scapular plane in sitting, supine and standing positions. The peak torque generated by shoulder internal rotators was significantly greater in sitting position than the other position as p value was 0.002 and the peak torque generated by shoulder external rotators was significantly greater in supine position as p value was 0.01
