Virtual water concept is a new water management tool for improving the agricultural water use and decreasing the food gap .The concept was applied on five Nile countries. An optimization model is developed for the selection of the cropping patterns distribution in the studied countries that minimize the food gap. Four cases of scenarios were developed; the first case assumes an integrated agricultural planning for the five studied countries. The second case deals with each country individually. The third case assumes integration for Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan. The fourth case assumes integration for Egypt and Sudan
