Non steroidal anti - inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are widely used as analgesic antipyretic and in the treatment of inflammation rheumatic arthritis and other related conditions . Indomethacin is [1 - (4 - chlorobenzy1) - 5 - methoxy - 2 - methylindol - 3 y1] acetic acid . It is a potent NSAID with analgesic and antipretic properties . It requires oral dosing at least 2 or 3 times daily since it undergoes first pass metabolism
