Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - National Cancer Institute - Department of Oncology (Medical) Summary: Introduction: Hepatocellular carcinoma is the fifth most prevalent cancer and third most common cause of cancer-related mortality.Patient and methods: eighty five patients with chronic HCV related HCC were compared with two other groups: 100 patients with chronic HCV and 50 healthy controls.Results: In the current study, all investigation parameters (adiponectin, leptin and visfatin) were significantly elevated in HCV related HCC patients compared to chronic HCV patients and control subjects.Conclusion: These markers may play a significant role in pathogenesis and development of HCC
