Background: This study evaluated the effect of perioperative infusion of amino-acid, dextrose 10% and Ringer's acetate solutions on intraoperative hypothermia by measuring esophageal and skin temperature, Intraoperative hemodynamics, blood glucose level, serum insulin, insulin resistance, PH, amount of blood loss, postoperative shivering, coagulation profile, lipid metabolism, duration of hospital stay and postoperative complications. Methods: 63 cancer patients (ASA) physical status I and II, aging from 20 and 70 years old undergoing pelviabdominal surgery were randomly allocated using permuted block method into three equal treatment groups: Group One (Aminoven group) received aminoven 10% solution through a central venous catheter at an infusion rate of 1 ml/kg/h. Group Two (Glucose group) received glucose 10% solution through a central venous catheter at an infusion rate of 2 ml /kg /h. Group Three (Ringer group) received warm acetated Ringer{u2019}s solution at a rate 10-15 ml/kg/h. The following had been measured: The temperature (Core temperature and skin temperature), Hemodynamical parameters, Serum blood glucose and insulin level at T0, T1, T2 and T3, Insulin resistance at T0, T1, T2 andT3, Arterial blood gas parameters, amount of blood loss & transfusion requirement, duration of postoperative mechanical ventilation, The degree of postoperative shivering, Hemoglobin concentration, platelets count, coagulation profile, Serum blood glucose and serum insulin level at T4 and T5), Insulin resistance at T4 and T5, Serum cholesterol & triglyceride 2 hours postoperatively, incidence of postoperative complications, duration of hospital stay
