There is greater psychiatric morbidity in type 1 diabetes patients than in the general population, with depression, anxiety and sleep disorders being the most common psychiatric disturbance and these disorders have a direct impact on metabolic control. The purpose of this study was to assess the psycological disorders (anxiety, depression) and sleep disorders in children and adolescens with type 1diabetes, and to relate any discovered psycological disorder to patients' compliance; regarding self monitoring of blood glucose and patients' metabolic control (A1c values). In conclusion, all patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus in our study have been found to have anxiety while the majority of them suffered from depression (73%). Moreover, Sleep disorders were demonstrated in all the studied cases. Anxiety and depression can be attributed to diabetes; prolonged duration of diabetes, poor glycemic control, and non compliance to treatment are important risk factors for psychological disorders in diabetic patients
