Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Electrical Power and Machines
In this thesis, the Alternative transient Program (ATP) is used for analyzing the stator winding internal faults such as phase - to - ground, phase - to - phase, two phase - to - ground and the three phase faults. A model for the stator windings is developed using the ATP draw program which is one of the ATP program tools. In this model all previously mentioned faults have been simulated when generator neutral point is solidly grounded or grounded through a low resistance. Consequently, a proposed differential protective algorithm is developed using TACS models of ATP program to protect the generator stator windings against the previously mentioned faults. Finally, the proposed differential protection algorithm is tested in case of stator windings internal and external faults
