Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Pharmacognosy Summary: The objective of this study is to evaluate the botanical study and DNA fingerprinting of Avena sativa L., preliminary phytochemical screening Avena sativa L., biological study of Avena sativa L. Ethanolic extract (70%) and its fractions (viz. petroleum ether, methylene chloride, ethyl acetate and remaining aqueous) were prepared and evaluated for their biological activity, the ethyl acetate followed by petroleum ether fractions are the most potent for all studied activities compared to the other successive fractions in a dose dependent manner. The petroleum ether fraction of grains showed highly potent activity against liver, breast and colon cell lines. Furthermore, investigation phenolic compounds of bioactive organ (grains), Seven phenolic compounds were isolated from ethyl acetate fraction of the grains are responsible for its prominent activity against all studied biological activities. Investigation of the lipoidal matter of bioactive organ (grains), Five lipoidal compounds were isolated from petroleum ether fraction of the grains are responsible for the potent activity of this fraction as cytotoxic, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. Investigation of polysaccharides of Avena sativa L. of bioactive organ (grains), The potent activity of grain polysaccharides as wound healing, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, antihyperglycemic and antihyperlipidemic, are mainly due to the presence of Ý-glucan. Moreover, preparation of pharmaceutical wound healing formula using oat polysaccharides. Studying of nutritive profile of the different organs of Avena sativa L.
