With the exception of Citric acid and EDTA which severely etched the samples , the solutions proved to be week in solely removing the corrosion products in this short spanMechanical cleaning before or / andduring the treatment gave better resultsThe extracted amount of soluble chlorides considerably increased after the mechanical cleaning which removes the outer layersAs most investigations prove , chlorides are found near the metal , in contact with it , and cleaning exposes just the inner portion of alteration layersWashing the objects with deionised water - a treatment
