Molecular markers; molecular genetic alterations are of high predictive and prognostic significance in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) especially in AML patients with normal karyotype which is the target subgroup in AML. They are providing targets for molecular therapy. The identification of molecular genetic alterations such as gene mutations or deregulated gene expression in acute myeloid leukemia (AML), has greatly advanced our understanding of leukemogenesis
