Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Anatomy Summary: The pedicle of the axis vertebra provides a good anchor for surgical stabilization of atlanto-axial joint. Various anatomical definitions and descriptions of the pedicle were encountered in the literature. In the present study, dry bone specimens and neck CT scans were examined morphologically and morphometrically. Pedicle length, width, height, median angle, rostrocaudal angle, antero-posterior distance and superior-inferior distance were measured. In addition, measurements of different parts related to the pedicle were also performed. These parts include superior articular facet,inferior articular facet and foramen transversarium
