Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Economic and Political Science - Department of Economic Summary: By considering the main elements of sustainable local economic development (SLED) and its process, models, strategies, and the types of financial resources needed to fund green investment; the research emphasizes the role of SLED with regard to Green Job Creation (GJC). The research specifically analyzes the relation between SLED and GJC using a sample of some European municipalities like those of Copenhagen, Hamburg, and Lisbon1 on one hand, and a sample of Egyptian governorates, namely Cairo, Alexandria, and Beni-Suef on the other hand. Moreover, it examines the social, economic and environmental impacts of those municipalities when adopting SLED. In line with this, the research examines the specific conditions for the organizational, institutional, and development policies for implementing low carbon investment on local projects For the above-mentioned purpose, the study utilizes three main approaches: the descriptive, analytical approach, comparative approach, and qualitative and quantitative methods. By considering a primary dataset, constructed by designing questionnaires for a number of random executives and citizens of three governorates; Cairo, Alexandria, and Beni-Suef2, the study found a positive and statistically significant relationship between SLED and that managerial effect on Green Job Creation (GJC). However, such relation between public policy's effects on Green Job Creation (GJC) was negative and statically insignificant. The research has also considered a secondary dataset collected from OECD and Euro-stat database
