Predisposing factors include male sex , maternal diabetes and elective cesarean delivery . TTN results from lack of absorption of fetal lung fluid , which usually resolves in two to five days with oxygen supplementation but can persist in some neonates requiring mechanical ventilation and hospitalization in the neonatal intensive care unit
