Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - National Cancer Institute - Department of Pediatric Oncology Summary: Wilms' tumor (WT) is one of the most common soild malignancies in children, bilateral disease is rare and is seen in only 4 to 7% of all patients. Bilateral WTs pose the special challenge of establishing local tumor control while preserving renal function. Because of an increasing appreciation of the potential for renal failure in these patients, the management of bilateral WTs has evolved from primary kidney resection to renal preserving surgical approaches facilitated by the use of preoperative chemotherapy
