Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Analytical Chemistry Summary: This work is concerned with the quantitative determination of some mixtures of drugs containing nitrogen including; Diflucortolone Valerate (DIF) in its mixture with Isoconazole Nitrate (ISO), Paracetamol (PAR) in its mixture with Phenylephrine hydrochloride and Cetirizine dihydrochloride. In this thesis; different analytical techniques were adopted, namely, spectrophotometric, UV-chemometric, liquid chromatographic and electrochemical methods for the determination of the previously mentioned compounds in their pure powder, laboratory prepared mixtures and dosage forms. In part I; General introduction and literature review of DIF and ISO were described. This part described also the quantitative determination of DIF and ISO in their combination either in pure form or dosage form using spectrophotometry including four methods (constant center spectrophotometric method (CC), ratio difference (RD), the first derivative of the ratio spectra (¹DD) and mean centering of ratio spectra (MC)), TLC-Densitometry and HPLC methods. In part II; General introduction and literature review of PAR, PHE and CTZ were described. Then different analytical methods were described for the determination of the studied drugs in their combination either in pure form or dosage form including spectrophotometry (The first method is successive spectrophotometric resolution technique (SSRT), the second method is the mean centering of ratio spectra (MC) and the third method is the first derivative of the ratio spectra- zero crossing (¹DD)), UV-Chemometry, TLC-Densitometry, MLC and potentiometric determination of CTZ using ions selective electrodes
