Those cataracts need high energy to be emulsified , which means high ultrasound power and duration meaning longer surgery times , which could prove more dangerous for the cornea . To minimize the energy delivery and duration , we can use the quick - chop technique that provides ultrasound in an engery - efficient manner . It allows less use of energy and increases the effective emulsification
