Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Summary: The aim of our study was to assess if doing internal fixation only for patients with FD lesion of the proximal femur would alleviate their symptoms and prevent future morbidities. Our study is a retrospective audit of a prospective database. Between February 2004 to December 2018 at Cairo university hospitals; 20 patients were treated surgically by internal fixation only using variable implant options depending on the lesion site and bone quality either with or without osteotomy. The exclusion criteria included patients treated by external fixation, PFD lesions, or treated by internal fixation with curettage and bone grafting Our patients were followed up between February 2004 and September 2019 for at least 10 months.Epidemiologic data, clinical manifestations, radiologic investigations, method of fixation, early assessment of functional outcomes using MSTS (3, 6, 12 months intervals postoperative except 2 patients followed for 10 months), and complications in these patients were reviewed. Functional scoring according to the MSTS was done with the mean total score was 23.35/30 points (14-27), 27.70/30 points (19-30), and 28.78/30 points (25-30) at 3, 6, 12 months respectively. These recorded scores were considered satisfactory
