Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Orthodontics Summary: Bimaxillary protrusion is a condition characterized by protrusive and proclined upper and lower incisors with an increased procumbency of upper and lower lips which can be seen in almost every ethnic group. Because of the negative perception of protrusive dentition and lips in most cultures, many patients with bimaxillary protrusion seek orthodontic care. The aim of this study is to evaluate smile esthetics after extraction orthodontic treatment of adult females with bimaxillary dentoalveolar protrusion in addition, to evaluation of perception of smile esthetics by professional and postgraduate orthodontists before and after orthodontic treatment. Records of a sample of 20 adult female patients having an age range of 15-20 years with full permanent dentition having Angle Class I molar relation with bimaxillary dento-alveolar protrusion were retrieved from the outpatient clinic of the Orthodontic Department, Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University. The same treatment protocol was done for all patients where all teeth were bonded and banded with pre-adjusted appliances 0.0223 Roth prescription. Nickel titanium arch wires were used for leveling and alignment followed by consecutive stainless steel archwires. Miniscrews were placed between the second premolars and the first permanent molars bilaterally in the buccal alveolar bone in both upper and lower arches and patients were referred for extraction of the four first premolars.Canine retraction was performed on 0.0173{u00D7}0.0253 stainless steel arch wires followed by upper and lower anterior teeth retraction using T-loops 0.017 x 0.0253 TMA arch wires total treatment time range was 18 to 24 months
