Oxidative stress plays an important role in various clinical pathologies one of which is ischemia / reperfusion (I/R) - induced injury . intestinal I/R - induced injury . Intestinal I/R enhances production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) inflammatory mediators and induces apoptosis . In other hand the intestinal tract shows a high sensitivity to ionizing radiation due to a rapid cell turnover and is often implicated in radiation sickness
