Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Institute of Statistical Studies and Research- Department of Computer and Information Science
Voice communication is an emerging technology and has great importance in our daily life. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a popular technology for transmitting voice over internet protocol. Although it is a very popular and less expensive method of transferring voice packets over network, yet it has some major challenges suchas evolution period. In other words, VoIP is still in process of development. Many challenges are faced by this new technology of transferring voice packets. It requires resolving before it outclass the existing way of voice transmission. One of the prominent issues faced is maintaining quality of service for voice transmission. In this thesis, a proposed method for achieving a level of quality of service (QoS)over the Internet, the Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) that allows TCP/IP applications to set up reservations for network resources. The distributed real-time network model that utilizes RSVP to taking advantage of the quality of service mechanisms provided by the Resource Reservation Protocol is implemented using OPNET modeler simulation. A fuzzy model for enhancing token bucket algorithm is implemented using MATLAB toolboxes to predict fuzzy token bucket. The obtained results of the Simulation experiments ensure the improvement of fuzzy token bucket shaper scheme compared with the traditional token bucket and non- token bucketby 97%of Jitter.99%of ETE Delay, Delay Variation and Data Loss.46%ofVOIP Calls Status according to Mean Opinion Score (MOS) Scale
