Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - National Institute of Laser Enhanced Science - Department of Laser Applications in Environmental Metrology Photochemistry and Photobiology and Agriculture Summary: In the current thesis, novel and eco-friendly methods were developed for the synthesis of Cadmium telluride quantum dots (CdTe QDs) using yeast extract. Different instrumental analysis as ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and the photo-stability study was performed to identify the optical and chemical properties of the prepared QDs. Results showed that the CdTe QDs were prepared with unique optical properties, good crystallinity and high photostability. Moreover, the prepared quantum dots were applied as nanosensor for the detection of different concentrations of glucose. Results revealed high sensitivity toward low concentrations of glucose levels. In conclusion, we successfully developed a rapid and sensitive optical glucose sensor through a green synthetic route
