520 | _aBalance deficits are among the symptoms that having a more profound impact on motor function and quality of life in children with cerebral palsy. Poor balance makes it more difficult to carry out gait-related tasks and raises the chance of falling. Aim: To compare between the effect of virtual reality and mirror therapy on balance, muscle strength and quality of life in children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy. Subjects and methods: Thirty-six children of both sexes with hemiplegic cerebral palsy between the ages of sex and ten years participated in this study. They were divided into two groups (A and B). children in both groups received a designed physical therapy program furthermore, group A received a wii-fit virtual reality- based program while, group B received mirror therapy. Children in both groups received treatment for 60 min/day, 3 days/week for 3 successive months. Balance (overall, anteroposterior and mediolateral stability indices), muscle strength as well as quality of life were assessed by using biodex balance system, lafayette hand-held dynamometer and pediatric quality of life inventory cerebral palsy Module respectively for each child in both groups before and after treatment program. Results: Children in both groups showed significant improvements in post-treatment mean values of all measured variables when compared to the pre-treatment mean values (p<0.001). Significant improvement was observed in group A in favor of group B when post treatment values of both groups were compared except for knee flexors muscle strength (p< 0.05). Conclusion: Both virtual reality and mirror therapy are recommended to improve balance, muscle strength and quality of life in children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy. Virtual reality is more beneficial in enchanting balance, muscle strength and quality of life among those children
