520 _aA survey of fungi associated to diseased basil plants was conducted in Beni-Suef, Menia and Assiut. During 2005/2006 growing season. Six species were identified fungal species. Rhizoctonia solani was the most frequently isolated fungus followed by Macrophomina phaseaolina and Fusarium oxysporum. All tested Macrophomina phaseolina isolates were pathogenic, isolate No.M3E (from Elmenia) which caused the highest percentage of pre- and post- emergency damping off
