520 _aPatients and Methods: Twenty-five dyslipidemic T1DM and 20 normolipidemic T1DM patients, asymptomatic for Cardiovascular disease underwent echocardiography (Pulsed-wave Doppler and TDI) to assess diastolic function. Results: In comparison to normolipidemic T1DM, dyslipidemic T1DM group, the average age was (14.6 ± 2.273yrs.) with disease duration of (6.68± 2.954 yrs.); the mean HbA1c was 8.08%. The mean serum total cholesterol (TC), LDL were significantly higher (p = 0.015 and 0.014 respectively) while HDL were strongly significant lower (p = 0.001). Waist to hip ratio was significantly higher (p = 0.037). Mitral deceleration time was strongly significant lower (p = 0.005) while Tei index was significantly higher (p = 0.048). In suboptimal glycemic control dyslipidemic T1DM (HbA1c {u2265}7.5), Tricuspid A and RV Á were significantly higher (p = 0.043 and 0.043 respectively) while mitral E/A, tricuspid E/A, LV- Lateral E/É and LV- Septal E/É were significantly lower (p = 0.019, 0.043, 0.022 and 0.029 respectively) when compared to patients with HbA1c < 7.5. Serum TC was significantly positive correlated to RV-Á (p = 0.048, r = 0.4) while was significantly negative correlated to RV-É/Á (p = 0.002, r = {u2212}0.590). Serum LDL was significantly positive correlated to disease duration (p = 0.046, r = 0.40) and LV septal Á (p = 0.049, r = 0.397) while was significantly negative correlated to Tricuspid E/A (p = 0.034 r = {u2212} 0.44), LV septal É/Á (p = 0.024, r = {u2212}0.45) and RV-E/É (p= 0.013, r = {u2212}0.489). Serum triglycerides was significantly negative correlated to FS (p = 0.018, r = {u2212}0.47) in dyslipidemic T1DM group. Conclusion: Dyslipidemia and suboptimal glycemic control (HbA1c {u2265} 7.5) can serve as biomarkers for cardiovascular dysfunction in at risk adolescents with T1DM. TDI parameters are adjunctive tools which may be affected early in the course of macrovascular disease
