| 520 | _aBackground Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by production of autoantibodies & formation of immune complex. The hallmark of SLE is the production of autoantibodies. They are produced by autoreactive B cell due to loss of tolerance to self antigens and aberrant T cell regulation which leads to autoimmunity. Abnormally increased expression of OX40 and OX40Ligand (OX40L) is a major reason for the activation of T-cells in SLE. Aim of the study The current study aimed to find out the role of OX40 and OX40L in the pathogenesis of SLE and lupus nephritis (LN) and to correlate them with disease activity. Material and Methods Determination of percentage of CD4+ T-lymphocytes expressing OX40 (CD134) by flowcytometry and measurement of OX40L serum level by Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) in 50 SLE patients divided into 2 groups (25 lupus nephritis, 25 non nephritis) and 20 healthy controls of matched age and gender | ||
