520 _aDebate around the management of the preterm patent ductus arteriosus remains unresolved, while the trend towards pharmacological or surgical closure is widely followed, strong evidence to support this trend is lacking. This study aimed at measuring the cerebral hemodynamic effects of PDA using cranial Doppler and its relation to the prognosis. This is a cohort study that involved 20 preterm neonates with PDA size more than 1.4mm by echocardiography during the period from June to December 2014 and compared to 10 preterms with no PDA who were matched controls. Cerebral blood flow was assessed using cranial Doppler at day 3 of life and a follow up by the end of the first week of life after follow up echocardiography. The resistive index of the anterior cerebral artery was strongly positively correlated with the PDA size
