520 _aBackground :It is well established that genetic factors play an important role in the development of type 2 diabetes (T2D) and its chronic complications. Uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) is expressed in several tissues, and acts in the protection against oxidative stress, some studies have reported the common polymorphisms in UCP2 gene -866G/A is possibly associated with cardiovascular complication of diabetic patients with inconclusive results. Myeloperoxidase (MPO) plays an important role in the initiation, progression, and the complications of atherosclerosis. It is one of the most promising biomarkers of oxidative stress for clinical cardiologists . Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the association between UCP2 gene, -866G/A polymorphism with cardiovascular disease and obesity in diabetic patients type2 and role of MPO in cardiovascular disease in diabetic patients, also the association between MPO and UCP2 gene polymorphism in diabetic patients
